Please note our phones go through to the out-of-hours service at 6pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and at 12:30pm on Thursday.

GP Extended Hours

Evening and weekend appointments are available; however, these will be at an Extended Hours Hub. The nearest Hub is at Fairlawns Medical Centre on Middlewood Road.

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or Call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

Walk-In Centre

Services

At the walk-in centre you can receive healthcare information, advice and treatment for:

  • Coughs, colds and flu-like symptoms 
    • Information on staying healthy/local services 
    • Skin complaints - rashes, sunburn, headlice, nappy rash 
    • Muscle and joint injuries - strains and sprains 
    • Stomach ache, indigestion, constipation, vomiting and diarrhoea 
    • Women’s health problems, eg thrush, menstrual advice 
    • Hayfever, bites and stings 
    Additional services at Sheffield Walk-in Centre:
    • Treatment of minor infections (anti-biotics dispensing) 
    • General health care assessments 
    • Emergency contraception.

Minor Injury Unit

Description of Service

The nurse-led Minor Injuries Unit treats most minor injuries such as cuts and bruises, minor burns, fractures to the hands and lower arms, lower legs and feet. The Unit cannot treat injuries to the chest, back, hips or thighs. 

Accessing service - Walk in service, Royal Hallamshire Hospital: 08:00 to 20:00.

Typical procedures – you may be required to undergo a number of tests such as X-rays, blood tests, etc. This will depend on your symptoms and will be decided by the nurse in charge of your treatment.
